This film was supposed to be the antithesis of Oliver Stone's The Doors but every time I catch a glimpse of Morrison smiling or laughing and see a different side of his personality along comes Johnny Depp's narration to tell me what to think. The new footage is enough of a reason to watch this documentary but they still didn't get it right. Next time, if there is one, the filmmakers should take a cue from The Kids Are Alright and let the music (along with original interviews) do the talking. A full song performance would speak volumes over a Mr Mojo Risin segment (unfortunately, already told on Storytellers). The Doors songs are great. The spoken word, not so much.

The Doors Of Perception Are Closed
