New Jack Logan

It's always good news when Jack Logan has a new LP
on the way. Last year's Nature's Assembley Line was great and this one should be too.
You can hear a few tunes and order it at Fundamental Records

Don't Judge A Disc By It's Cover

Almost as fun as discovering a new band is when when someone who you've been listening to for years puts out a good album long after you expect them to. Rockford is my favorite album of the summer (four days in) so far.

About the cover: Maybe this was designed by some famous pop artist I don't know about, but if you're gonna make your best album in say, 25 years, you might want to spend a little more time on the cover. I could be wrong, but I'm not. Maybe over time it's greatness will make me come to love the cover, but I doubt it.

About the music: I didn't believe the hype at first, but after about five plays it started to kick in. It starts off ok with some good songs, but somewhere in the middle you forget this is the new Cheap Trick and it just gets better from there. I especially like the one-two punch of This Time You Got It and Give It Away.
Listen to it here:

I figure now is as good a time as any to reprint this.
MY LETTER to Rolling Stone magazine about Paul McCartney from last fall (the one with Billie Joe Armstrong on the cover).
I still stand by the albums mentioned and i haven't listened to Chaos and Creation too much.English Tea anyone?
So Happy Birthday to Paul and Happy Father's day to me.

Grand Old Flag

What better way to celebrate Flag Day than with the Germs' stirring rendition of (you're a) Grand Old Flag? Bet Shane West can't sing like this:

Dani Controversy

Some say the new Red Hot Chili Peppers song Dani California sounds a lot like Tom
Petty's Mary Jane's Last Dance which sounds a lot like The Jayhawks' Waiting For
The Sun.I say it sounds like Sweet Home Alabama.Listen.

due to limited technology this is only 40 seconds long but you'll get the point:

    Looks Like We Made It

It's a miracle on ice when skating superstar Philippe Candeloro and singing sensation Barry Manilow share an intimate moment backstage.
Here's hoping they try to get the feeling again.

    Here Comes Al

Um....I forgot how good Al Anderson was until i watched this DVD.
I'm not so sure about Girl Scout Cookies but this is another good show by NRBQ.Now if someone could find some early footage that would be great.
